SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW
We recently celebrated our daughters 5th birthday with a rainbow inspired party! Our daughter Emma LOVES rainbows! She is also the designer /artist behind our rainbows pocket duvet and snuggle blanket. When the time came to start planning her 5th birthday party it was pretty obvious that this rainbow obsessed little girl would be over the rainbow for a party like this! ;)
Party planning is actually something that I really enjoy! I love planning out all the pretty details from decor to fun activities for the kiddos and even the favors that they get to take home. Of course now a days, my time is really limited and all the party stuff is reserved to late night planning or in this case; blowing up a ton of balloons to build a giant rainbow arch in our backyard! haha
This year my husband and I started the tradition of making our own piñatas. He thought i was nuts at first, but by the end of it, I know he was as excited as I was! For Emma's party we built a cute cloud piñata with sleepy eyes. I really like the idea of a pull string piñata because it eliminates the need to beat it to smitherines. This is especially great for the younger kids! Everyone gets to grab a string and pull, so fun! We put together a little DIY tutorial below in case you're feeling inspired to make your own piñata too!
We built the cloud piñata out of cardboard, duct tape, and covered it with this perfect fancy white tissue fringe from Shop Sweet LuLu! Keep on reading for the DIY below! :)
My very good friend Katie was the sweetest and baked the most delicious homemade funfetti cake for the party! Party Tip 101: A little Something i am slowly learning as I get older is that it's okay to ask for help. I can drive myself crazy sometimes trying to do everything. Family and friends are most likely more than happy to help and it will certainly relieve some of the stress when planning your party! The rainbow napkins, pastel rainbow cups, candles, and best confetti ever is from Oh Happy Day Shop.
For the activity we set up tables for the kids to make colorful sand art! This is such a nostalgic thing for me and so fun! I purchased these small plastic bottles with cork tops, colored sand, and funnels from Amazon. It was a colorful mess but the kids loved it and it was an easy clean up outside!
Rainbow bagels, pizza, and a fruit rainbow made an easy, yummy, and pretty lunch! I asked our local bagel shop if they could make us some custom rainbow bagels for the party and they were more than happy to do it for us!
Little guests took home their very own kaleidoscopes so they could see all the colors of the world! I think parents appreciate a favor thats not filled with sugar and the kids love a little treasure that they can continue to enjoy for years!
A happy birthday girl means a successful party! :)
Take some deep breaths, put on some good music, and most of all HAVE FUN! These years with our littles are so precious and they go by so quickly! Enjoy and happy party planning! xo
